Open letter to President Buhari requesting to revoke large hectares of land held by military in Kontagora that has provide now sanctuary for banditry

The President and C-in-C of;
The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Villa,
Abuja.

REQUEST TO TERMINATE OR REVOKE THE LEASEHOLD ON THE LARGE HECTARES OF LAND HELD BY MILITARY IN KONTAGORA, NIGER STATE, AS TRAINING/ MILITARY EXERCISE RANGE, THAT HAS NOW PROVIDED SANCTUARY FOR BANDITS OPERATING FREELY IN THE SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

I humbly write to invite Your Excellency’s attention to the challenges and difficulties now faced by citizens of the Niger-North Senatorial District (Kontagora * Borgu Emirates of Niger State) of serious incursions by well armed Bandits operating from the very Large Hectares of Land allocated to the Brigade in Kontagora as an “Exercise & Training Range” in which the Military Authorities in Kontagora had driven out every village or hamlets or settlements out of. This land spans from Kontagora to the boundaries of Dogon-Fadama to the North and to almost Mariga to the South-East that’s unproductive and redundant.

As a result these Bandits realized that such a vacant space not under surveillance by anybody was available and ripe for them to move into. They’ve, from all indications and intelligence coming to the villages nearby, that have been attacked regularly that there operational bases have relocated into this fertile ground and built up their arsenal in that land from where they are now assaulting the entire Zone.

I urge Mr. President to immediately revoke the leasehold on that land to enable citizens occupy this space and dislodge these unwanted criminals.

I thank Mr. President in advance in anticipation of his favourable response.

Engr. M. Bello, FNSE.
