8 academic staffs of Ibrahim Badamasi University Lapai have tendered their resignation

The staff who are mostly of the Professorial Cadre, took the action due to poor condition of service.

The Chairman, Joint Action Committee in the University, Comrade Adamu Isah made this known at a News briefing in Minna.

Comrade Adamu Isah, who is also the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria universities, said, the unions are worried that the continuous poor funding of the institution and welfare of staff might lead to more staff seeking better offers elsewhere.

They wondered why earned allowances are continuously being owed with delay in the payment of monthly salaries.

The Chairman, Academic staff Union of Universities, Dr Kudu Dangana described the effort of the unions as an attempt to salvaged the institution from its current situation.

Dr Dangana expressed worry that local government Council chairmen are not paying their counterpart fund inline with the act establishing the University.

On his part, the chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union, Comrade Adamu Usman pointed out that the University has continued to rely on projects executed by the administration of late former Governor Abdullahi Kure, despite the increasing number of staff and student population.

The unions who noted that they would explore all possible avenues to attract needed attention to the University, appealed to well meaning residents of the state to come to their rescue.
