Niger state gov’t evacuates 327 to state of origin

Niger state government has evacuated Three Hundred and Twenty Seven (327) Almajirai to their home states to unite with their families.

Niger State Commisioner Of Education and the Coordinator of the program, Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu stated this Yesterday during the evacuation after their quarantine at CAILS Tudun Fulani in Bosso.

Hajiya Hannatu said a total number of three hundred and twenty seven(327) Almajirai will be evacuated to Sixteen (16) states within Nigeria and Ghana from the state to be reunited with their parents out of which two(2) are from Ghana.

She noted that the program is in line with the agreement of the Northern Governor’s Forum that all the Almajirai should be evacuated to their individual states with a view to curtailing the menace of street begging and protect them from the scourge of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The programme aimed at protecting the Almajirai against the spread of Covid -19 and street begging has a total of 69 evacuated within Niger state .

The breakdown showed the evacuation to include,
Katsina 73,
Kaduna, 47
Kogi 3 and
Kano 15, among other areas they were evacuated to included,Zamfara, Kebbi,Abuja, Gombe,
Bauchi, Sokoto, taraba, Kwara, Oyo and Ghana respectively.

She however stated that the only challenges faced during the quarantinine period of the Almajirai was the fact that the Almajirai did not see the reason why they were brought to the quarantine and why they have to be reunited with their families, adding that along the line most of the Almajirai were happy and saw the wisdom behind the evacuation and even opted to be reunited with their families.

Meanwhile a check in the camp.showed that the Almajirai were well fed and accommodated at CAILS Tundun Fulani Bosso in the state.

The effort of the Hon Commissioner of Education and her team was largely lauded by many people who visited the camp where they were accommodated before the evacuation.

The Almajirai also joined in commending the Hon Commissioner as they were elated by the way they were treated, a treatment rare to them.
