Why Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba for Zone ‘C’ senatorial seat?

Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba, representing Kontagoa/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representative of Nigeria has his outstanding achievements to speak for him in his constituency. His projects touch every aspect of the lives of his constituents.
The four term member is well known among his colleagues at the National Assembly and his continuous outstanding performance has rendered him to the members of his constituency. Their appreciation is manifested in constantly voting him which has made him one of the ranking members of the National Assembly.
Hon. Abdullahi is generous and easily accessible to his constituents unlike some members who mostly hide-out at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. They are only seen by their fellow constituents a few times after four years in office during campaign and elections season without playing any positive impact in the lives of their people socially or in provision of dividend of democracy. The truth requires no decoration and what he is remains his hallmark among thousands. Hon. Abdullahi is a leader per excellence.
He is no doubt a spectacular leader with nothing but his people at heart. He has a slogan which quotes “my constituency first” and indeed he is a man of his words as he stood by those words. His last phrase in all orders is ‘expedite’. He gives orders in clear and definite ‘terms of reference’. He always believes that time isn’t on his own side thus he tames that by circumspect ‘deadlines’.
In less than 2 years after being sworn into office for the fourth term in 2019, Hon Abdullahi Idris Garba has accomplished the following within a year;
As earlier mentioned, there is no aspect of life that the member has touched when it comes to ensuring the betterment of his fellow constituents. Last year alone, the member constructed and completed Mariga central mosque.




He also renovated an Islamic school student class-rooms and mosque at Irshadul Auladul Waladi fittiba’il Sunnah in Tudun-Wada, Kontagora.




Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba donate a vehicle to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Mashegu branch.




The member constructed drainages at Unguwar Tukura and Unguwar Yamma of Arewa ward at the satellite town of Kontagora L.G.A of Niger State. There always been a case of annual problem of flood affecting the people living in that community area.




The member reconstructed dilapidated drainages at Kanwurin Sarkin Wushishi a satellite town in Wushishi L.G.A of Niger State. The annual problem of flood affecting the people living in that community and right in front of Emir’s Palace was permanently stopped.



In his effort to provide easy and accessible clean portable water to rural communities. Hon. Idris ensured sunck over 12 boreholes including along with metalmetal over-head tanks at some rural communities in some wards under his constituency. This project is a continuation of his long time water projects for sustainable development.




Dry season farming is not a popular trade in most part of the communities under the member’s constituency. However his commitment for a more sustainable agricultural economy for his constituency he encouraged dry season farming among farmers. In mid-last year, the member distributed over 902 self-propelled sprayer and 112 Planters to the community.





As part of his constituency projects the member was able to successfully complete the construction of a bridge and 2 kilometer road with drainages from Unguwan Tukura to Rigasa which links to British Cotton Growers Association (BCGA) in Kontagora L.G.A of Niger State. This project opened a new phase in the economic-development of the community as the road links small communities to the satellite town of Kontagora offering them easy access to engage in their various trades during market days.




As part of his constituency project the honorable member purchased and installed over 300 Solar Powered Street Lights in some areas within the constituency, Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu. Sever solar powered street lights were installed at some key areas in various parts of his constituency as necessary.




As part of his effort to eradicate poverty and provide better employment opportunities to women and youths in his constituency, Hon. Idris and his team established a number of empowerment programmes to address the unemployment affecting the society. Over 50 women and youths were trained in yam flour production. After successfully completing the training, each participant was given the sum of N50,000 to start up his/her yam flour production business.




Shortly after the first yam flour production empowerment scheme, his team again also supervised the training and empowerment of over 200 women and youth from various parts of his constituency. This time around, the participants were involved in a four (4) day training exercise mainly on yam flour production. After the training participants give a bag of yam flour along with the sum of N50,000 to start up their own small scale yam flour production.




Over 80 participants consisting of women and youth from every part of his constituency were trained in both marine and fresh water fishery. After the training, each participants was given the sum of N50,000 to start up his/her independent fish farming production.





In another empowerment programme, a three (3) day training exercise of over 50 women and youths was supervised by the member’s team on small ruminant production. After the training, each participants was given the sum of N50,000 to start up his/her small ruminant production. The objective of the scheme is to diversify the economy and reduce poverty especially among women and youths.




In his effort to provide easy and accessible health care facility to his rural constituents. The member has completed 90% works of the newly constructed Cottage Hospital at Babban Rami of Mashegi Local Government Area, Niger State.




In the same vein, Hon. Abdullahi ensured the completion of an abandoned government project at Rijiyan Nagwamatse ward. The hospital was an abandoned state government project with capacity of accommodating over 30 bed space.




In order to promote and encourage E-learning among staffs and students in his constituency due to the current vast technological advancement in the educational sector. Bon. Idris and his team ensure the renovation as well as supply E-Library equipment’s such as computers, solar powered inverters, ICT connections and furnitures to Government Science College Kontagora.




Abdullahi Idris Garba Education Foundation was set up to support the jamb registration payment of over 500 final year secondary school students within his constituency. Lack of comprehensive computer practical training has always been the issue that lead to the massive failure of student in jamb especially in the Northern part of Nigeria, with this issue rectified. To ensure the success of the students in the jamb computer based online examination, the member trained ensured the training of those students with the necessary computer knowledge that will help them pass with flying colors.





There is an ongoing on the construction of female hostels at Niger State College of Nursing Sciences (School of Nursing and Midwifery in Kontagora L.G.A of Niger State. The nursing school was recently established




In his effort eradicate hunger and help the needy the Abdullahi Idris Garba Foundation distribution of over 1,350 bags of relief materials comprising of Millet and Beans. The relief programme was solely aimed at feeding the less privileged especially widows, whom their husband have passed away and left with many kids to feed. The relief material was distributed to every ward out of the 45 wards in his constituency, each wards was given 20 bags of millet and 10 bags of beans, making 30 bags par ward to be shared to the less privilege in that particular ward.




During the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in Nigeria. His foundation also disbursed over 1,500 bags of rice, 1,800 bags of maize, 1,600 bags of millet and 5,500 tubers of yam to his fellow constituents. The relief materials were distributed to members of the community in each ward in his constituency that deem fit to receive the relief items irrespective of their political affiliation, religion, and tribe.
